LeeLee Brazeal is a Houston painter with a national reputation that

reaches back across three careers. She works in acrylic on Yupo,

building layered, atmospheric paintings about disruption in time and

space, things half-seen, and what is left after a warning has passed.

Her work has shown across Texas and beyond, including at the Louise

Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, the Masur Museum of

Art, the Houston Assistance League, and the Women's Building in Fair

Park, Dallas.

Before painting became her primary work, she spent a decade as a

national illustrator and art director with agents in New York, Chicago,

Houston, Dallas, and California. Her work appeared for clients from

Neiman Marcus to Apple, Coca-Cola to Continental Airlines. She co-

founded a custom art gate company in 1991; the gates were installed in

every state and three other countries. They sold the company in 2020.

Her recent paintings began with a tear she saw in the universe. She has

been painting her way toward it ever since.
